The idea for a heavy multipurpose tractor used to invade the Soviet Union is rumored to have come from Hitler himself. In 1941 Porsche designed the vehicle but during the trials its high weight and narrow wheels caused the tractor to get stuck easily, even on a relatively solid surface. On ice it was almost impossible to steer, and fuel consumption was high. Around 200 tractors were produced despite the shortcomings, and they served in Normandy and the Netherlands.
