The P-47D Thunderbolt was a member of the Thunderbolt series that featured the razorback shape of the upper rear fuselage flattened and a tear drop canopy over the cockpit for improved rearward vision. This feature was included on all P-47s produced after the D-25. This revision reduced the max speed of the aircraft but did a great deal to improve the balance as a fighter aircraft. The Thunderbolt, equipped with exhaust turbines and outstanding performance in all types of operations, from low to very high altitudes, was also used extensively in the ground support role.
Please see the paint guide below for the manufacturer’s suggested colors.
